Spello (Umbria), newly opened archeological museum Roman Imperial age mosaics dating back 2,000 years in a Roman villa called Villa dei Mosaici, located just outside Spello town walls (Sant'Anna locality).  Multimedia audio guide or personal guided tours on reservation at info@villadeimosaicidispello.it.  Open Tuesday to Sunday weekly.  Ticket entry 6 Euro, children 2 Euro.

Pesaro (Marche) - now until 26 September:  Weekly visits to Villa Imperiale, an outstanding Renaissance villa and garden in the hills above Pesaro.  Guided tours are available, including  bus ride from the seafront at Pesaro, every Wednesday afternoon.  Cost is 13 Euro.  Bookings are a must - www.isairon.it.

Urbino (Marche) - from 9 to 12 August 2018:  "The Duke's Festival" is all about Duke Frederick, one of the main protagonists of the pre-Rennaisance period in this area.  Fireworks, parades, entertainment, music all held in the small laneways and piazzas of Urbino until dawn.  More info:  www.urbinofestadelduca.it

Gubbio (Umbria) - from 7 July to 4 November 2018:  "Gubbio at the Giotto Epoch" art exhibition held in three venues in the City of Stone - Gubbio.  The exhibition traces the historic and artistic events from the late 1200's to the second half of the 1300's period when the city was particularly active in the artistic field.  More info and tickets: www.gubbioaltempodigioto.it.

Cupramontana (Marche) - from 4 to 7 October 2018:  "81st Edition of the Grape Festival", the oldest food/wine festival in the Marche.  In this area famous for the Verdicchio grape, take the opportunity to visit the Frassasi Caves (distance about 30 minutes by car).

Serrapetrona (Marche) - from 11 to 18 November 2018:  "Appassimenti Aperti", annual wine festival for the indigenous grape Vernaccia, from which is produced the only Italian red sparkling DOCG wine.  Street food, and shuttle bus to the local wineries.

Are you a social/recreational/serious cycling fan?  In 2018 Agriturismo L'Ape Regina ("the Queen Bee") located in the hills of Corvara, Abruzzo region (approximately 3 hours by vehicle Rome Fiumicino), offers small group cycling tours. The 15 day itinerary includes accommodation, transfers from/to Rome Airport, all meals and drinks as well as facilities for riders such as on-site workshop for minor repairs and contact with a specialist cycling shop nearby if required. Three or four rest days for visiting the local area and interesting sights are part of the program.
